This is a small six bedroom family run country hotel/inn where you are assured of a warm welcome by the Proprietors Zarka and Toman Zec, the food is superb and the wine excellent and the bedrooms clean and comfortable.

It offers comfortable accommodation in a traditional ambience with double and triple rooms, with the possibility of following the latest developments in the world through satellite channels.

Within the hotel is a 120-seat restaurant with a garden and a traditional, specially designed, rustic-style fireplace room - the odžaklija, in which various celebrations or special evenings may be organized at the request of the guests.

If you wish to keep up with what is going on in Virpazar or on the lake, being a guest of the Hotel Pelikan will enable all this.

The life of the town is relived and retold here, with the atmosphere permeating the entire hotel.

In the Pelikan you will always be welcomed with hospitality, in an authentic ambience of the traditional Montenegrin household and some sort of a family museum of plants and memorable items from the lake and the area of Crmnica.  You will see an array of photographs as remembrances of things past and hear anecdotes you are bound to remember. You will taste top-quality lake specialties and wine and leave the place with songs, flowers and water lilies that you will be presented with as gifts.

lake_skadar_-_edgedApart from its unique location and excellent food and drink, one of the attractions of staying here is to participate in the boat excursions on Lake Skadar, the National ecological treasure of Montenegro.

Apart from the bird life it is so rich in flora and fauna, which makes it such an important habitat for bird life and is particularly beautiful in the spring when the lake is a mass of water lilies.

There are so many small islands, many of them with the remains of ancient fortresses from the time of the Turkish occupation in the XIX century during the rule of King Nikola of Montenegro.

The shores of the lake are pitted with picturesque villages, old monasteries and fortresses and the lake is fed by six different rivers and is one of the largest bird sanctuaries in the whole of Europe having over 270 species amongst which are some of the last Pelicans in Europe and many other rare species of birds.

Two thirds of the lake falls within Montenegro and a portion in Albania. At its longest point the lake is 44km long and 14km wide and it has a shoreline of 168km and falls under the shadows of some magnificent mountain ranges, Lovcen, Sutorman, Rumija and the Tarabos mountains. One of the excursions on the Pelikan boat is to Dove's islet where you will witness the largest nesting community of the silver seagull and on the bird islet of Beska with a complex of monasteries and churches of St Dorde and St Bogorodica and then to the islet of heron where you will see some more very rare birds. The lake cruise would not be complete without a picnic lunch including freshly caught trout or chowder from the lake, local grown vegetables and the finest of Montenegrin wines.
