This will be the fourth of a very successful series of exhibitions organized by Montgomery Libya. This year it attracted 4,156 visitors, including petroleum engineers, geoscientists, government and private sector planners, specifiers and procurement officials, specialist contractors and trading agents.

There were some 204 exhibiting companies from 21 countries.

This event was opened by Libya's Minister of Trade, Mr Ali Abdul Aziz Alasawi,

The oil and gas industry is the driving force behind Libya's economy and development. There is massive investment needed for the country's ambitious infrastructure plans. The country is midway through its short-term plan to raise oil production to 2 million barrels per day by 2010. They need to attract some US$30 billion in investment in the petroleum upstream and down stream as well as in refining and petrochemicals. All of this is driving the infrastructure requirements in building, transport and communications, water, agriculture, power and electricity, safety and security.
