The Company is a member of the Association of British
Travel Agents (Membership Number V2471) and is so bonded
in its own right as a Tour Operator by the Civil Aviation
Authority (CAA) under licence ATOL 1869. This is very
important as under the Package Travel, Package Holiday
and Package Tour Regulations of 1992 require those who
organise group arrangements to be bonded and to have
Professional Indemnity Insurance; something which one
should always check before booking ones holiday, whether
bridge or otherwise. I would like to make it clear that
all aspects of the Mercian Travel holidays do comply
with the new law. The money that you have paid for the
holiday is protected at all times and facilities are
in place for repatriation should the organiser become
insolvent. For Mercian, providing travel is our full
time professional occupation, not a hobby or a pastime
but one that we endeavour to do professionally and consequently
we employ professional staff to process and look after
your requirements.
As an ABTA member we are accredited by TrustUK an officially
recognised body to ensure the highest standards of online
trading.
As members of the International Air Transport Association
(IATA) we issue our own airline tickets and travel documents
for all the major airlines around the world. Our in-house
computer connects the Mercian office, via satellite,
to all the mainframe computers of the major airlines
anywhere in the world so that the Mercian sales staff
can make instant reservations and issue relevant airline
tickets ourselves. We are therefore not dependent on
others.
