An airline that still believes in a service,
giving attention to its clients and looking after
the traveller in a manner which many other airlines
appear to have forgotten, an airline which would
certainly get our vote for the World’s
Favourite Airline.
The major advantage of
flying with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is the extensive
network from almost every UK regional airport,
permitting you to fly from your local airport
to their hub at Amsterdam Schipol airport which
offers quick and efficient transfers. The
airport has a single terminal so all transfers
are under one roof; onward boarding passes are
issued at the original station so you go straight
to the departure gate to take your connecting flight. The
airport terminal is well laid out clearly indicated
where to go and of course virtually everyone speaks
English so it is a very smooth and easy transfer
to your connecting flight.
Internet check-in is available from the United
Kingdom via www.klm.com at
any time from 30 hours prior to departure up to
one hour prior to departure. Home printed boarding
passes are available from 10 UK departure points,
with the rest of the UK network expected to have
availability by the end of 2006.
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines was formed in 1919 by
Albert Plesman, and is the oldest airline in the
world still operating under its original name.

KLM employs almost 35,000 staff worldwide and
operates a mixed fleet of 181 aircraft, with some
amongst the most modern available today. The route
network extends to 139 destinations on 5 continents.
The fleet of aircraft is constantly changing,
with newer aircraft types being integrated. KLM
now operates 11 Boeing 777-200 aircraft on long
haul routes, and is currently taking delivery of
8 Airbus A330-200 to replace older aircraft. All
of these new aircraft incorporate state-of-the-art
in-flight entertainment systems, and World Business
Class offers the latest in comfort and in-flight
service.
KLM joined forces with
Air France in 2004, creating the world’s largest airline group, with revenue
in excess of 19 billion Euros. The two airlines
launched their individual loyalty scheme “Flying
Blue” in June 2005 and the scheme currently
has approximately 10million members worldwide. KLM
also offers a corporate loyalty scheme “BlueBiz” to
small and medium-size businesses.
